Phoenix, AZ (8/12/20) – Unfavorable weather conditions, high fire danger, and continual fire activity means fire restrictions must go back in place on some state lands this weekend.
Due to public and firefighter safety, come Friday, August 14, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management will implement Stage I fire restrictions on state lands within Coconino County, south of the Grand Canyon, and in Yavapai County.
Under Stage I, campfires are only allowed in a developed campsite and smoking is restricted. Target shooting and fireworks are always prohibited on state lands.
As a reminder, Stage II fire restrictions remain in effect within state lands in Gila, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, and Yuma Counties, as well as, Coconino, north of the Grand Canyon.
Restrictions go into effect, on Friday, August 14, at 0800, and continue until rescinded.

All exemptions to these restrictions must be approved by the State Forester.
If local authorities have imposed stronger restrictions then those listed above, than the local restrictions shall apply.
These restrictions apply to all permit and lease holders and other authorized users of state-managed lands. These restrictions do not apply to private lands under ARS § 37-1303.
