A Middlesex County man was found to be in possession of a loaded, stolen firearm during a motor vehicle stop on Raritan Road on Friday, December 20th 2024.
At approximately 02:53 AM, Officer Liam Duffy stopped a gray 2023 Honda in the area of Raritan Road and Coleman Avenue after observing the driver commit a moving violation. Subsequently, Officer Matthew Richel was dispatched as Officer Duffy’s back-up. During the motor vehicle investigation, Officer Duffy located a loaded firearm. The suspect, later identified as driver Devon Anderson, 28, of Piscataway New Jersey, was taken into custody without incident.
Anderson was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm Masada semi-automatic handgun containing 11 rounds of ammunition. The firearm was later determined to have been reported stolen out of Newark, New Jersey. Additionally, Anderson was found in possession of multiple magazines and additional rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Anderson was charged with 2nd Degree Possession of a Firearm, 3rd Degree Possession of a Stolen Firearm and 3rd Degree Certain Persons Prohibited From Possessing A Firearm. At the time of this arrest, Anderson was committed to the Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.
