1 Charged With Firearm During Cranford Police Motor Vehicle Stop

A Union County man was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm during a motor vehicle stop investigation on North Avenue on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

At approximately 7:14 PM, police stopped a 2008 Nissan Rogue on North Avenue near Elizabeth Avenue for an equipment violation. During the course of the investigation Officer Rameil King, Officer Jack Korzeneski and Officer Travis Freeman located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun within the vehicle. The passenger, Alamin Gadson, 20, Hillside, NJ was taken into custody without incident.

Gadson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a firearm and Possession of large capacity magazines.  The driver of the vehicle was issued an equipment violation summons.

At the time of the arrest Gadson was committed to the Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.
