3 Charged with Firearms and Narcotics Offenses During Motor Vehicle Stop

Three Essex County adults were found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and narcotics during a motor vehicle stop investigation on Raritan Road on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

At approximately 12:04 AM, police stopped a 2019 Jeep Cherokee on Raritan Road near Coleman Avenue for several motor vehicle violations. During the course of the investigation Officer Nicolette Tufano and Officer Rameil King located a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and prescription narcotics within the vehicle. The occupants, Jermiah Jones, 37, Irvington, NJ, Lamont Butler, 32, Newark, NJ, and Abraham Watson, 19, Newark, NJ were all taken into custody without incident.

All three individuals were charged with Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Prescription Narcotics. At the time of the arrests all three were committed to the Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.
