4 males were found to have distribution-level narcotics, with 1 of the males possessing a loaded firearm during a motor vehicle stop investigation on North Avenue on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
At approximately 8:55 PM, police stopped a 2015 Nissan Altima on North Avenue near the Garden State Parkway exchange for several motor vehicle violations. During the course of the investigation, Officer Nicolette Tufano located a large amount of marijuana packaged for distribution purposes within the vehicle. Additionally, a firearm loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition was located within the Nissan. 4 vehicle occupants were taken into custody without incident.
The driver, Amir Rouland, 21, Newark, NJ, was charged 2nd Degree possession of a firearm, 4th Degree possession of prohibited weapons, 4th Degree possession of a defaced firearm, 2nd Degree possession of a weapon during CDS offenses, 4th Degree possession of marijuana, and 3rd Degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
The vehicles’ three other occupants, Yazir Coley, 20, Newark, NJ, Kashir Williams, 20, Newark, NJ, and Jovan Thomas, 22, Brooklyn, NY, were all charged with 4th Degree possession of marijuana and 3rd Degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
At the time of the arrests, Rouland was committed to the Union County Jail pending a detention hearing while Coley, Williams, and Thomas were released on summonses pending a future Union County Superior Court date.
