01/01/2024 @ 05:37 hours – East South Avenue at East Lincoln Avenue

Arrested:            

Rocio Huertas, 41, Garwood, NJ

Charges:             

Driving While Intoxicated

Remarks:

On 01/01/2024 at approximately 05:37 hours, police were dispatched to the area of South Avenue at Lincoln Avenue on the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival officers located a 2020 Range Rover that had struck a utility pool. Subsequent to an investigation, Officer Gross arrested the driver, Rocio Huertas, 41, of Garwood NJ, for driving while intoxicated. Huertas was processed and provided a municipal court appearance date.  In addition, Huertas was issued a motor vehicle summons for careless driving and failure to maintain lane.

 

01/02/2024 @ 15:27 hours – 700 block of Willow Street

Arrested:            

Carlos Matos, 53, Port Reading, NJ

Arrested by:      

Detective Robert Jordan

Charges:

Theft

Remarks:            

On 01/02/2024 at approximately 15:27 hours, subsequent to an investigation Detective Jordan charged Carlos Matos, 53, Port Reading, NJ with theft. Matos had been previously hired to conduct residential construction work on a Willow Street home but never conducted the promised work or refunded the money. Matos was subsequently issued a superior court appearance date.

 

01/05/2024 @ 19:54 hours – North Avenue at Garden State Parkway #137 exchange

Stephanie Flores, 38, Brooklyn, NY

Charges:

Possession of CDS-Crystal Methamphetamine

Remarks:            

On 01/05/2024 at approximately 19:54 hours, police stopped a gray 2023 Dodge on North Avenue near the Garden State Parkway #137 exchange for several motor vehicle violations.  Subsequent to an investigation, Officer Bellomo arrested the driver, Stephanie Flores, 38, of Brooklyn, NY, for possession of CDS- crystal methamphetamine. Flores was processed and provided a Superior Court Appearance Date. In addition, Flores was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, failure to maintain lane, and CDS in a motor vehicle.

 

01/06/2024 @ 20:34 hours – 50 block of South Avenue

Arrested:

Michael Andrews, 36, Carteret, NJ

Arrested by:

Patrolman Joshua Sousa

Charges:

Shoplifting

Remarks :

On 01/06/2024 at approximately 20:34 hours, police responded to a business on the 50 block of South Avenue for the report of a shoplifting.  Subsequent to an investigation, Officer Sousa arrested Michael Andrews, 36, of Carteret, NJ for Shoplifting. Andrews was processed and provided a municipal court appearance date.

 

01/07/2024 @ 21:36 hours – East South Avenue at East Lincoln Avenue

Troy Brown, 30, Cranford, NJ

Driving While Intoxicated

Remarks:

On 01/07/2024 at approximately 21:36 hours, police stopped a blue 2011 Honda on East South Avenue at East Lincoln Avenue for several motor vehicle violations.  Subsequent to an investigation, Officer Freeman arrested the driver, Troy Brown, 30, of Cranford, NJ, for driving while intoxicated. Brown was processed and provided a municipal court appearance date. In addition, Brown was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving and failure to maintain lane.

 

01/08/2024 @ 03:08 hours – Commerce Drive at Myrtle Street

Arrested:            

Mannan Azam, 25, Roselle, NJ

Arrested by:

Charges:

Possession of CDS-heroin

Warrants

Remarks:            

On 01/08/2024 at approximately 03:08 hours, police stopped a silver 2004 Nissan on Commerce Drive near Myrtle Street for failing to be equipped with proper license plates. Subsequent to an investigation, Officer Duffy arrested the passenger, Mannan Azam, 25, Roselle, NJ, for several active arrest warrants as well as for possession of CDS-heroin. Azam was processed and provided a superior court appearance date. In addition, Azam was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear his seatbelt.
