01/18/2024 @ 16:46 hours – 10 block of South Avenue

Arrested:

Michael Andrews, 36, Carteret, NJ

Arrested by:

Patrolman Nicolas Cook

Charges:

Shoplifting

Remarks :

On 01/18/2024 at approximately 16:46 hours, police responded to a business establishment on the 10 block of South Avenue for the report of a shoplifting. Subsequent to an investigation, Officer Cook arrested Michael Andrews, 36, of Carteret, NJ for Shoplifting. Andrews was processed and provided a Municipal Court appearance date.

 

01/26/2024 @ 15:01 hours – 400 block of South Avenue

Arrested:

Hasaan Cook, 38, Florence, SC

Arrested by:

Detective Timothy Handy

Charges:

Fraud, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest

Remarks :

On 01/26/2024 at approximately 15:01 hours, police responded to a business establishment on the 400 block of South Avenue for the report of a physical altercation in progress. Upon arrival Officers observed the staff manager involved in a physical altercation with an unknown male. An individual later identified as Hasaan Cook, 38, of Florence, SC had allegedly attempted to cash a fraudulent check. When confronted about the check being fraudulent, Cook became physically aggressive towards employees which led to the physical altercation. Detective Timothy Handy arrived and subsequent to a brief investigation, arrested Cook for Fraud, Simple Assault, and Resisting Arrest. Cook was processed and provided a Superior Court appearance date.

 

01/27/2024 @ 03:26 hours – Centennial Avenue at Raritan Road

Wesley Wade, 27, Roselle, NJ

Charges:             

Driving While Intoxicated

Remarks:

On 01/27/2024 at approximately 03:26 hours, police were dispatched to the report of a driver behind the wheel of a vehicle near Centennial Avenue at Raritan Road. Upon arrival, Officer Drew located a 2017 Mazda in the lane of travel with one occupant asleep in the driver’s seat. Subsequent to an investigation, Officer Drew arrested the driver, Wesley Wade, 27, of Roselle, NJ for driving while intoxicated. Wade was processed and provided a municipal court appearance date. In addition, Wade was issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, delaying traffic and refusal to submit breath samples.

 

01/29/2024 @ 13:43 hours – Centennial Avenue at Raritan Road

Arrested:

Robert Sutyak, 60, Avenel, NJ

Stephanie Nunez, 35, Irvington, NJ

Arrested by:

Charges:

Possession of CDS- Heroin and Cocaine

Warrant Arrest

Remarks :

On 01/29/2024 at approximately 13:43 hours, police stopped a 2014 Chevrolet van near the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road for seatbelt violations. Subsequent to an investigation, Detective Gerrity arrested the driver, Robert Sutyak, 60, Avenel, NJ for possession of CDS - cocaine and heroin. Additionally, the passenger, Stephanie Nunez, 35, Irvington, NJ was found to have several active warrants for her arrest. Sutyak was processed and provided a Superior Court appearance date. Nunez also processed and later released from custody pending court appearances.

 

01/31/2024 @ 16:00 hours – South Avenue West

Arrested:

Vernice Harvard, 61, Newark NJ

Arrested by:

Detective Jason D’Agostino

Charges:

Shoplifting

Remarks :

On 01/31/2024 at approximately 16:00 hours, Detective Jason D’Agostino was at a retail business establishment on South Avenue West when he was informed by staff about a possible shoplifter.  Subsequent to a brief investigation, Det. D’Agostino arrested Vernice Harvard, 61, of Newark NJ for shoplifting.  Harvard was processed and provided a Municipal Court Appearance Date.
