05/08/2024 at 1210 hours- North Union Avenue

Arrested:        

Raymond Zajonic,39, Brooklyn, New York

Arrested by:   

Detective Ryan Gerrity

Charges:         

Forgery

Remarks:

On 05/08/2024 at 1210 hours Detective Ryan Gerrity responded to a North Avenue business on a report of a suspicious male that had attempted to pass a counterfeit bill.  Detective Gerrity later located the suspect, Raymond Zajonic, 39, Brooklyn, New York, on North Union Avenue where he was arrested without incident and charged with one count of Forgery. Zajonic was released on a summons pending a Superior Court hearing.

 

05/09/2024 at 0245 hours- South Avenue West

Arrested:        

Neil Cote, 37, Garwood, NJ

Arrested by:

Officer Gianna Ricerca

Charges:

Driving While Intoxicated, Careless Driving, Disregard of Traffic Control Device

Remarks:        

On 05/09/2024 at 0245 hours Officer Gianna Ricerca stopped a vehicle for failing to stop for a red light. A brief investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Neil Cote, 37, Garwood. Cote was charged with DWI, Careless Driving, and Disregard of a Traffic Control Device. Cote was released on a summons pending a Municipal Court hearing.

 

05/14/2024 at 1935 hours- Raritan Road

Sherrod Green, 22, Linden

Arrested by:

Officer Liam Duffy

Charges: Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Certain Persons Not To Possess Weapon or Ammunition

Remarks:

On 05/14/2024 at 1935 hours Officer Liam Duffy stopped a vehicle for Careless Driving on Raritan Road at Moen Avenue.  During a brief investigation a loaded firearm was located by backup Officer Joshua Sousa.  The suspect, later identified as passenger Sherrod Green, 22, Linden, New Jersey, was taken into custody without incident. The firearm was later determined to have been reported stolen out of North Carolina.

Green was charged with Possession of a Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Certain Persons Prohibited From Possessing A Firearm.   Green was committed to the Union County Jail pending a detention hearing.  The driver of the vehicle was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to signal, improper turn, careless driving and failure to provide a driver’s license.
