The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) Law Enforcement Accreditation Program awarded the Cranford Police Department Re-Accreditation this month, Chief Ryan Greco of the Cranford Police Department announced today. The Cranford Police Department was initially accredited in December 2006, and reaccredited in 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018. This will be the agency’s 6th reaccreditation.
“Verification by the team that the Cranford Police Department meets the Commission’s “best practice” standards is part of a voluntary process to achieve accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence”, Chief Greco said.
The Cranford Police Department must comply with NJSACOP LEAP standards in order to achieve accredited status. Accreditation is valid for a three-year period during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting to their continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited. Mitchell Sklar, Executive Director for the NJSACOP, praised the Cranford Police Department’s achievement, adding that the agency “can be justifiably proud of this accomplishment.”
The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police through its New Jersey Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission is the legitimate authority and accreditation agency in the State of New Jersey.
