After a one-month long investigation, today the Cranford Police Department announced the arrest of an individual responsible for a Christmas Eve 2021 robbery occurring in a residential area.  Jerry Robinson, 44 of Jersey City, was arrested and charged with Robbery, Burglary and Theft on February 2nd, 2022, police said.

On December 24th, 2021 at approximately 10:00 AM, the Cranford Police Department responded to a Collins Street home on the report of a robbery.  The victim advised responding officers that while unloading groceries from her vehicle into her garage, she was grabbed from behind and forcibly thrown to the ground by a male suspect.  The suspect ran off with the victim’s purse and was observed by witnesses fleeing the scene in a Black Nissan Murano.

Cranford Police Detectives Jordan, Gerrity, D’Agostino and Trotter worked with multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the State and identified the suspect as Jerry Robinson of Jersey City NJ.  After securing and executing three separate search warrants for Robinson’s home, car, and cellular telephone, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office approved criminal charges against Robinson for Robbery, Burglary, and Theft.  At the time of this arrest, Robinson was detained at the Hudson County Jail awaiting a bail hearing.

Chief Ryan J. Greco commended all individuals involved in this investigation.  “The cooperation between the victim, witnesses, investigating detectives, and multiple police agencies led to the successful resolution and conclusion to this violent crime,” Chief Greco said.
