Juvenile waived to adult court in connection with Cranford double homicide

Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Cranford Police Chief Matthew Nazzaro announced today that 18-year-old Vincent Battiloro of Garwood has been waived up to adult court and will be tried as an adult in connection with the murder of two juvenile females.
Battiloro, whose identity has previously been withheld due to his age at the time of the incident, is facing two counts of first-degree murder.
On September 29, 2025, at approximately 5:26 p.m., the Cranford Police Department responded to Burnside Avenue following a report of two juvenile females struck by a motor vehicle while riding an electric bicycle. Upon arrival, officers located the two injured juveniles. They were immediately transported to local area hospitals, where they were subsequently pronounced deceased.
Following a comprehensive and extensive investigation, Battiloro was taken into custody by members of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Cranford Police Department. Having been waived up to the adult court system, his case will now proceed through the Criminal Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Union County Vicinage.
