Seeking Candidates: Civilian Traffic Maintenance Driver/Laborer

The Township of Cranford's Police Department is now seeking candidates for the civilian, traffic maintenance position of "POLICE DRIVER/LABORER".

The Township of Cranford is accepting applications for a full-time, civilian Police Department Driver/Laborer. Under immediate or general supervision, performs various types of manual, skilled, and semi-skilled tasks involved in traffic maintenance. Duties include but are not limited to installing, maintaining and repairing street signs and signals; repairing, and maintaining traffic lights, painting lines, minor traffic fleet maintenance, placing barricades and posting street signs for events and during emergencies and other duties related to police traffic maintenance as assigned and as needed. Must be able to lift 90 lbs. High School diploma or equivalent required. Candidate must be customer service oriented and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the general public. Must be able to follow directions and complete assigned tasks within established deadlines. Valid New Jersey Driver’s License in good standing is required. Will be required to work in adverse weather conditions and on an emergency basis when needed. 40-hours per week; Union position following a salary guide outlined in a collective bargaining agreement. Successful applicant must undergo background check and drug test prior to appointment. Position open until filled.
