January 21st, 2023 12:55 pm

UPDATE (1/22/2023 at 12:55 PM):  KCSO detectives conducted a search warrant with the assistance of the Wyoming Department of Public Safety Tactical Team and arrested a 21-year-old Wyoming man in relation to the Gaines Township shooting.  He is lodged in the Kent County jail on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder and Armed Robbery.  The victim remains in stable condition at this time.  Detectives are still looking for others involved in the shooting.

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich:  At 1:30 AM this morning a 22-year-old man from Gaines Township was struck by gunfire multiple times.  Several neighbors in the 100 Block of Northbrook Dr SE (Grand Village Mobile Home Park) called in to report hearing multiple shots fired.  When deputies arrived in the area they did not locate any victims.  At 2:00 AM deputies learned that a gunshot victim showed up at St. Mary's Hospital.  He is in stable condition at this time.

KCSO detectives have continued the investigation and learned that after the victim was shot, he fled in a vehicle along with others and were chased by the shooters.  The suspects shot at the victim's vehicle along northbound US131 until the vehicle became disabled and stopped at Hall St & US131.  There, a good samaritan found the victim and drove him the rest of the way to the hospital.

Although this shooting does present a danger to the public, KCSO believes that the two groups were known to each other and specifically met up in cars at 1:30 AM along Northbrook  If you have any information or video evidence, please contact KCSO detectives.  The case is actively being investigated.
