CALEDONIA Township, Kent County: KCSO cruiser rammed by suspect vehicle after failing to stop during traffic stop.

On 08/03/2020 at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Kent County Sheriff‘s Office received a request from the Ottawa County Sheriff‘s Office to check the 9800 block of Cherry Valley in Caledonia Township for a vehicle with a potentially armed subject.

KCSO deputies located the suspect vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled.

Deputies followed the suspect vehicle at low speeds as it stopped and fled multiple times. Deputies attempted to use spike strips to disable the vehicle’s tires. The suspect vehicle travelled though Kent and Ionia Counties and eventually returned to Kent County where it rammed an occupied, marked KCSO patrol vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was eventually disabled and stopped in the City of Kentwood near Boardmoor Ave SE and 44th St SE.

The suspect was treated for minor injuries and lodged at the Kent County Jail pending formal charges. The officer whose patrol vehicle was rammed, received medical treatment after sustaining minor injuries.
