WYOMING, Mich:  November 4, 2019 at approximately 11:20 a.m. Wyoming Police responded to Walter St east of S. Division on a domestic dispute that involved a subject armed with a knife.  Responding officers arrived within minutes of being dispatched and were confronted by a male who was, in fact, armed with a knife. Following their initial contact with the male suspect, shots were fired by one of the responding WYPD officers.   Officers rendered medical aid to the suspect who was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As is standard practice, and part of a previously negotiated mutual aid agreement, the Kent County Sheriff's Office will conduct the investigation of the officer involved shooting before submitting a report to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office.  All media inquiries can be directed to the Office of the Sheriff for the duration of the investigation.
