LOWELL Township, Kent County (August 21, 2020): Shortly before 8:15 a.m., deputies from the Kent County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an accident near 36th Street SE and Alden Nash Ave SE involving a pickup truck and a tractor/trailer. The at-fault vehicle, a Dodge Ram, was eastbound on 36th Street SE and ran the stop sign at Alden Nash Ave SE. The tractor/trailer was struck by the Dodge Ram on the trailer. The at-fault vehicle was pinned underneath the trailer and the driver of the at-fault vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor/trailer was not injured.

At this time, names are being withheld pending out-of-state family notification. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police and Lowell Fire Department.
