On 4/19/19 at 0303hours Kent County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious subject call in the area of West River Dr and US 131 on the report of a subject standing in the roadway. Prior to Deputies arriving in the area Kent County Sheriff Dispatch received a second call that a pedestrian in the roadway had been struck by a vehicle. The subject, a 20 year old male from the Rockford area, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Plainfield Fire, Life Ambulance and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.  Names can be released.
