KENT COUNTY, Mich - Our 911 call center has received several calls from residents who have been concerned over the smell of a fire.  Reports have come from as far west as the Hudsonville area.  Kent County Emergency Management has advised there is a unique wind pattern that is likely carrying the "fire smell" from the Ionia County fire scene at Herbruck's Poultry Ranch, and moving it into Kent County.  Residents are asked to call 911 if they believe a fire is occurring, but to consider the possibility that they are smelling the remnants of the very large active fire scene to the east of Kent County.  If there is any doubt as to the source of the smell of a fire, call 911 immediately.
