The Kent County Emergency Management and the KCSO Marine Unit are NOT recommending recreation on any river in Kent County due to the recent flooding. This includes kayaking, tubing, canoeing, and swimming.
Water flow is at a dangerously high level. This fast-moving water can leave unexpected debris or hazards, which is incredibly dangerous for even the most experienced recreationists. Additionally, there is a possibility of contaminated floodwater containing sewage or other pollutants.
The best way to protect yourself is to stay out of the water.
