KCSO Arrests Subject for Breaking and Entering into Multiple Ice Cream Shops - Kent County

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (August 2, 2021) – The Kent County Sheriff’s Office arrests subject for breaking and entering into multiple ice cream shops in Kent County.

From 07/22/2021 to 07/30/2021, there was a minimum of 11 breaking and entering incidents at ice cream shops throughout Kent County, Allegan County, Walker, Grand Rapids, Grandville, and Wyoming. During the overnight hours of 07/23/2021 and 07/24/2021, the Dairy Delight at 3950 West River Dr. NE in Plainfield Township was broken into. Deputy James Albert was conducting patrol in the area and noted an unoccupied vehicle that was running. On 07/26/2021, Deputy Andrew Mark made a traffic stop on the same vehicle and arrested the driver, Cameron Harris (25) of Grand Rapids, for outstanding warrants.

On 07/29/2021, Harris was released on tether. After Harris was released, the following ice cream shops were broken into:

    Cascade Township

    Jamnbean Coffee
    6860 Cascade Road S.E.
    Cascade Township

On 07/30/2021, Detective Melissa Gokey checked Harris’ GPS locations and discovered that he was at the above listed ice cream shops during the breaking and entering incidents. Harris was arrested at the Red Roof Inn in Cascade Township on the same day.

On 07/31/2021, the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office issued the following charges on Harris:

  • Three counts of Breaking & Entering with Intent

On 08/02/2021, Harris was arraigned by Judge Bowler of the 63rd District Court. He is currently being held at the Kent County Correctional Facility on a $15,000 10% Bond.
