The Kent County Sheriff's Office is celebrating six staff retirements this week:
- Karen Johnson served the Kent County community for 21 years. She was hired in 2000 as an account clerk.
- Deputy Jason VanDyke served the Kent County community for 25 years. In 1996, he was hired as a county police officer. He worked in our Community Services Unit, Investigative Unit, and has been with our Transfer Crew as Court Security since 2018.
- Sgt. Salvatore Vitale served the Kent County community for 25 years. In 1996, he was hired as a county police officer. He was promoted to sergeant in 2011.
- Deputy Danial Alderink served the Kent County community for 25 years. In 1996, he was hired as a county police officer. He worked in our Investigative Unit and K-9 Unit. Deputy Alderink was partnered with K-9 Joe from 2006 to 2013 and has been partnered with K-9 Sabre, who will also be retiring, since 2014. He received the Distinguished Police Service award in 2013.
- Deputy Marnie Mills served the Kent County community for 25 years. In 1996, she was hired as a county police officer. She worked in our Community Services Unit, Investigative Unit, and Mounted Unit. She has been a Field Training Officer since 1997 and was the recipient of a Life-Saving Award in 2012.
