It is with heavy hearts that Kent County Sheriff Office shares the passing of one of our own. On Monday, November 1, 2021, Deputy David Cook passed away due to complications with Covid-19.

Deputy Cook served Kent County as a Patrol Officer for 21 years. During his time with us he received numerous accolades and accommodations from those he helped, worked with, and even received a thank you note from a person he arrested years ago.

"We are deeply saddened by Dave's loss." Said Sheriff LaJoye-Young, "His service to our community and presence as a partner and friend have been felt by all here at the KCSO. Dave's legacy will be defined by the kindness with which he served."

Deputy Cook is survived by his wife and two daughters. Following his passing last night, he was honored with a procession from Spectrum Health downtown to Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford.

All services are currently being coordinated with the family. At this time, we ask for the community’s thoughts and prayers for all who were close to Deputy Cook.
