CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (July 9, 2021) – The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an industrial accident with fatal injuries in Cascade Township.

On 07/09/2021 at 8:52 AM, deputies from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3600 block of Sysco Ct SE on an industrial accident with fatal injuries. The victim, David Heintz (64) of Dutton, was killed when a crane that was being assembled fell over and struck him. Heintz was briefly pinned underneath the crane before coworkers were able to free him and administer first aid. Medical personnel responded and attempted to resuscitate Heintz but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced deceased a short time later. Cascade Township Fire Department, Life Ambulance, and MiOSHA assisted at the scene.
