PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (May 21, 2021) – The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious personal injury car crash in Plainfield Township. On 05/21/2021 at 8:15 PM, deputies from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle car crash in the 5400 block of West River Dr NE.

A Toyota RAV4 was traveling eastbound on West River Dr NE when it crossed the centerline and struck a westbound Ram ProMaster Amazon van. The two vehicles then started on fire. The driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old male from Belmont, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital. The driver of the Amazon van, a 33-year-old female from Grand Rapids, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital.

Plainfield Fire Department, Life Ambulance, and Rockford Ambulance assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
