KCSO Investigates Shooting in Cascade Township

May 21st, 2023 11:31 am

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich: Just before midnight last night, around 100 to 200 vehicles were taking part in an impromptu car show in the 5200 Block of 33rd St SE.  The group of vehicles had congregated in areas in and outside of Kent County engaging in dangerous driving.  While the vehicles were gathering along 33rd St, a fight broke out between a 21-year-old Gaines Township man and others.  During the fight, the 21-year-old was shot.  He was taken to the hospital by acquaintances and is currently in critical condition.

Most of the crowd fled in their vehicles as police were arriving, leaving behind large amounts of trash and signs of reckless driving.  KCSO investigators are working to learn more about the suspects involved in the shooting.

If you have information that could help to move the investigation forward, please call the KCSO at 616-632-6125, or call Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 to report information safely and anonymously.
