GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich:  Just before 9:00PM on Thursday (3/31/2022) KCSO deputies responded to a report of a 17-year-old female that was shot in the arm.  Deputies located the female and two others with her near the entrance to a mobile home community along S Division Ave just south of 60th St.  The female was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm and transported to the hospital in stable condition.  Initial interviews with the involved alleged that an unknown suspect had shot the female and no location information was provided.  Information provided was very limited and deputies were not able to establish where the crime scene was, therefor they started canvasing the area.

Upon further investigation and questioning, detectives were eventually told that a group of teenagers were playing with a firearm at a residence along N Kenbrook St SE.  The gun then discharged striking the 17-year-olds arm.  Detectives have accounted for all individuals that were present and the investigation is ongoing.

The KCSO would like the public to know there is no threat to the community and no outstanding suspect.
