GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich:  Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on July 18, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of shots fired into a residence in the 6000 block of Campus Park Dr SE. Two unknown suspect vehicles were seen driving by the residence with at least three shots coming from one of the vehicles. A 56-year-old female resident was inside the house when she was struck by one of the bullets. She was treated at the University of Michigan Health – West hospital with non-life threating injuries.

Detectives are working to determine a motive for the shooting, and also if it is related to any previous shootings.
