GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich: Tonight around 6:15 pm, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on S. Division Ave south of 60^th St. The Cutlerville Fire Department and AMR also responded to the scene and Kentwood Police assisted with traffic control.

A 42 year old male resident of Gaines Township attempted to cross S. Division before being struck by a pickup truck traveling north on S. Division. Life saving efforts were carried out on scene. The patient was transported by AMR to Metro Hospital where he remains in serious condition. Alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.  The driver of the vehicle appeared to have the right of way and was not cited, and the crash remains under investigation.
