On July 2, 2020, a husband and wife were swimming at Long Lake Park with their grandson. While swimming, the husband lost consciousness, and his wife could not keep him upright and afloat. She yelled for help and got the attention of resident James Tomlinson.
James swam over and helped pull the husband to shore. Once back onshore, another resident, Ryan Hankiewicz, rushed over and assisted by administering CPR.
KCSO deputies and medical first responders took over lifesaving efforts and regained a pulse on the subject, who was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
The efforts of James and Ryan played a crucial role in saving the subject's life. For this, we proudly awarded them with a KCSO Lifesaving Award. Please join us in congratulating and thanking James and Ryan for their outstanding actions!
