UPDATE August 13, 2019 at 7:38 p.m. - 

Austin Goebel has been located deceased on an adjacent piece of property near his home. While his death remains under investigation, at this time, there is no indication of a threat to public safety.  An additional release will be prepared after an autopsy has been completed.

Deputies were called to the 700 Block of Fallsburg Park Dr NE in Vergennes Twp on August 12, 2019 at approximately 7:30 p.m. on a report of a missing person identified as Austin Goebel (23). Austin has been missing from his Vergennes Township home since the evening of Sunday August 11, 2019. Family members have expressed concerns over Austin’s mental health and believe he could be in danger.

A check of the surrounding area including known trails and parks was conducted with negative results. A K9 track was attempted, and a check of local hospitals was completed, both with negative results. Austin has been entered in LEIN as a missing person and investigators are actively working the case today.

Austin is wearing unknown clothing with blue Nike shoes. He is described as a white male, 5’10” 160 lbs with light brown hair and a shaggy goatee.  A picture is attached but it should be noted these are not believed to be his current clothes.  Anyone with information pertaining to his location is asked to call Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
