Incident Type: Recovery of Stolen Vehicle
GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Dec. 11, 2020) - On 12/11/2020 at 10:12 AM, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a stolen vehicle in the 1000-block of Woodfield East Dr NE in Gaines Township. The vehicle was previously stolen out of the City of Wyoming.
Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle, which was occupied by three subjects. When deputies made contact with the occupants, the driver attempted to flee in the vehicle and struck two marked KCSO cruisers. During the collision with the second police cruiser, the airbags in the fleeing vehicle were deployed, which disabled the vehicle. Deputies were able to take the three suspects safely into custody. The suspects were an 18-year-old male, a 17-year-old male, and a 16-year-old male, all from the Grand Rapids area. Deputies found a loaded firearm, which was previously stolen out of the City of Kentwood, in the front seat of the vehicle.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident and the investigation is on-going.
