Case Number: 19-140753

Incident Type: Traffic Crash

During the early morning hours of Saturday, August 3, 2019, the driver of a vehicle traveling on Alden Nash Ave SE north of 36thSt in Lowell Twp., lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times.

When rescuers arrived on scene, the driver of the vehicle claimed that there was a passenger in the car at the time of the crash. There was no one else in the vehicle and no one else was found near the vehicle. The driver later recanted their statements about a missing passenger. The person believed to be the passenger was located at their home in Ionia County, safe and sound. That person had been in the vehicle earlier in the evening, but they were dropped off at home shortly before the crash.

The driver, the lone occupant in the vehicle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, but the crash remains under investigation.
