Incident Type: Suspicious Situation 

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a suspicious situation that occurred earlier today. A 14-year-old female said she was walking to Northview High School and was at the intersection of Providence and Costa when she was approached by male in a vehicle. The female said the male driver said he was friends with her father and asked her if she wanted a ride to school because it was raining outside. The female said the driver also told her to come closer because he had something to tell her.

The female said she called her friend to tell her what was happening, and her friend’s mother called the police. The female said the male drove away and never made physical contact with her.

Driver Description:

Light skinned, possibly Hispanic, overweight male.

Vehicle Description:

Older Red or Maroon “boxy” van with a possible dent in the left rear bumper.
