BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich:  At 12:37AM this morning KCSO deputies responded to an alarm at Al & Bob's Sports at 510 68th St SW.  Responding deputies observed a truck leaving the business at a high rate of speed and attempted to pull it over.  As the truck was fleeing the driver lost control and crashed into the front of the McDonalds restaurant across the street.  The driver fled the truck and attempted to steal a vehicle from a customer at the gas station next door.  Deputies were close behind and apprehended the suspect before he was able to steal the vehicle.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and has been identified as a 27-year-old Grand Rapids man.  The truck he was driving was reported stolen from a nearby business.  Investigators are working to determine how many guns were stolen from the business and it appears there is more than one suspect involved.  The suspect will be lodged at the Kent County Jail after his release from the hospital.

If you have information that could help to move the investigation forward, please call the KCSO at 616-632-6125, or call Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 to report information safely and anonymously.
