GAINES Township, Mich. (September 28, 2021) - The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal car crash involving four vehicles in Gaines Township.

On 09/28/2021 at 7:00 AM, deputies from the Kent County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 100th St S.E. and East Paris Ave S.E. on a crash involving four vehicles. Traffic volume was relatively heavy on eastbound 100th St S.E. when a line of cars slowed to a stop. The at-fault driver failed to stop, which resulted in a four-vehicle rear-end accident.

The at-fault driver was air-lifted to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital, and the driver of the first impacted vehicle died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

100th St S.E. is currently closed between East Paris Ave S.E. and Patterson Ave S.E. and will remain closed for several hours.
