PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (April 29, 2021) – The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal car crash in Plainfield Township.
On 04/29/2021 at 5:58 PM, deputies from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle car crash on West River Dr NE between Samrick Ave NE and Rogue River Rd NE. A Dodge Stratus was traveling westbound when it lost control, crossed the centerline, and struck a Kia Sorento head-on. The driver of the Dodge Stratus, Joey Thomas Jackson, a 26-year-old male from Byron Center, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia Sorento, a 40-year-old woman from Comstock Park, and a 2-year-old were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, along with a 9-year-old that sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Plainfield Fire Department and Rockford Ambulance assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
