UPDATE 12/16/2021 11:00AM | The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges of Careless Discharge of a Firearm Causing Injury against the 17-year-old. This case will be held in juvenile court. The 12-year-old boy remains in stable condition.
 



SOLON TWP, Mich:  On December 13, 2021 at 6:01 PM Deputies were called to a Solon Twp. home in reference to a hunting accident. Investigation revealed a 17 year old subject was out hunting from a tree stand. A 12 year old sibling had entered the wooded area to call his sibling in for dinner. The 17 year old subject had mistaken the sibling for a deer and had shot the victim with a rifle. The 12 year old victim was transported to the hospital and is in serious, but stable condition. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor. At this time, names and addresses are not being released due to the ages involved. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources also assisted with the investigation.
