UPDATE: The driver of the Dodge Dakota, Alicia Crystal (26) of Sand Lake, has died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash.

SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (July 19, 2021) - The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating a personal injury car crash involving two vehicles in Spencer Township.

On 07/19/2021 at 1:08 PM, deputies from the Kent County Sheriff's Office responded to Meddler Ave NE and 18 Mile Rd NE on a two-vehicle car crash. A 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was southbound on Meddler Ave NE, just north of 18 Mile Rd NE, when it crossed the centerline and struck an Allied Waste/Republic Services utility truck head-on. The driver of the Dodge Dakota, a 26-year-old female from Sand Lake, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the utility truck, a 40-year-old male, was not injured.  

Meddler Ave NE between 18 Mile Rd NE and Black Creek St NE was closed for an extended period of time. Spencer Township Fire Department, Montcalm Township Fire Department, Lakeview Fire Department, and Rockford Ambulance assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
