Louisa Fire Update

March 21st, 2024 12:32 am

The Louisa County Fire & EMS and the Virginia Dept of Forestry have declared that the Louisa County fires in the area of West Old Mountain / Shannon Hill Roads have been 100% contained but are not 100% extinguished.  Evacuation recommendations in the affected areas have been lifted at this time.   Crews will remain in the area overnight, and throughout the day tomorrow to monitor conditions. All roads have now been reopened and residents are allowed to return to the affected area.

When returning to your residence, please remain vigilant and use good judgement in making a decision on whether or not to stay or return to the temporary shelter. Area residents should expect to have smoky conditions with possible flare ups since the fires have not been 100% extinguished.  If you observe any unsafe conditions in the area, please evacuate immediately and notify 911.

We would like to thank all of our Louisa County First Responders and mutual aid partners from Fluvanna, Goochland, Henrico and Orange County for their assistance in the county's time of need.
