On May 11, 2025, at 10:00 am, a Medicine Hat Police Service Patrol member saw a vehicle on College Drive SE at 13 Avenue SE. Knowing the driver was suspended due to a Canada wide prohibition, the officer attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver fled at high speed. Due to public safety concerns the officer did not pursue the vehicle. Shortly after, the same vehicle was observed near the suspect's residence. Additional officers arrived, and the suspect fled on a bicycle north on Dunmore Road. The MHPS K-9 and drone teams located the suspect in the 800 block of 9 Street SE.
Resulting from this matter, a 26-year-old Medicine Hat man was taken into custody without injury and was charged with the following;
- Fail to Comply with Release Order Conditions
- Operation of a motor vehicle while Prohibited x 2
- Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle
- Resisting a Peace Officer
- Flight from a Peace Officer
The accused was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing where he was remanded into custody pending his next court appearance in Medicine Hat Provincial court on May 13, 2025.
