On November 7, 2020 at approximately 9:00 am members of MHPS Patrol Section stopped a motor vehicle bearing an Ontario license plate on Southridge Dr SE as a result of a traffic infraction. During the vehicle stop it was learned that the driver was a 41-year-old Ontario resident who had initially provided a false name to police. The male was then arrested for obstruction as well as operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Further investigation revealed that the male was in possession of a quantity of controlled substances, other evidence supportive of drug trafficking, a large hunting knife, as well as a replica Beretta semi-automatic pistol. The suspect is in custody awaiting his bail hearing where he faces numerous charges including; possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, obstruction of a peace officer, proceeds of crime, weapons offences, as well as breach of release conditions.
