Members of the Medicine Hat Police Service have arrested a Medicine Hat man in connection with two separate robbery investigations that occurred earlier this month.

On August 17, 2026, police responded to a report of a robbery in the pedestrian underpass connecting North Railway Street and South Railway Street. During the incident, a 34-year-old male victim was assaulted and had personal property taken. Responding officers quickly located the suspect and arrested him without incident. Stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim. The victim sustained minor physical injuries that did not require medical treatment.

As the investigation progressed, officers determined that the same suspect was also wanted in connection with a robbery reported at a convenience store on August 7, 2026. In that incident, a 38-year-old store employee was assaulted after refusing to accept a damaged bill as payment. The suspect then left the business with merchandise without paying. Surveillance footage and witness statements assisted investigators in identifying the suspect.

The accused, identified as 36-year-old Andrew Beaudoin of Medicine Hat, was taken into custody and charged in relation to both investigations with the following offences:

• Robbery (2 counts)
• Fail to comply with a release order (3 counts)

Beaudoin was held for a judicial interim release hearing where he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on August 27, 2026.
