Recently there have been several social media posts drawing attention to a sexual assault that was investigated in July 2020 in Medicine Hat by the Southern Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation (ICE) Team. As a result of the ICE investigation a person was charged and no media release was issued for two primary reasons. Firstly, the courts had imposed a publication ban, and secondly, the privacy and identity of both the young victim and witnesses was considered. Further, due to the evidence and nature of the file the event did not pose a risk to the general public.
