On September 30, 2025, at approximately 4:30PM, members of the Medicine Hat Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious package located in the 300 block of South Railway Street SE. The package, which had been found in a garbage bin, was wrapped in bags, tied with cords, and had an audible ticking sound.

The immediate area was cordoned off and the MHPS Explosive Disposal Unit was called to investigate. After x-raying the package, it was determined to not be of risk to the public and removed from the bin. The investigation into the source of the package is ongoing.
