On September 19, 2024, at approximately 2:20 PM members of the Medicine Hat Police Service, including members of the Tactical Team, conducted a vehicle stop in the 100 block of Sprague Way SE in relation to an ongoing investigation.  During the vehicle stop the male driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was uncooperative with police instruction and refused to exit the vehicle. This resulted in the deployment of less lethal pepper ball munition, which allowed officers to safely take the male into custody.

Due to proximity of the arrest in relation to George Davison School, the school was voluntarily placed in a hold and secure which lasted approximately 20 minutes.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
