On July 12, 2026, at approximately 6:42pm, Naples Police Officers responded to 1555 5th Avenue South, La Quinta Inn, regarding a male threatening people with a knife. When officers arrived on the scene, they quickly detained a subject, later identified as Guillermo Soler (35), matching the description provided by reporting parties for further investigation. According to the victim, Soler approached him and asked for food, water, and $15 cash. When the victim refused, Soler brandished a ‘shank’, that had been previously concealed out of ordinary sight on his person and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim, fearful of their life, retreated to their vehicle for safety, and called 911.

Following the completion of the investigation, officers placed Soler under arrest for the offenses listed below and transported him to the Naples Jail Center without further incident: Attempted Armed Robbery, Possession of a Concealed Weapon by a Convicted Florida Felon, Simple Assault with Intent/Threat to do Violence.
