On May 6, 2026, we had the honor of presenting the Marc Newberry Memorial Scholarship to Naples High School senior Andre Ferdinand during the City Council meeting. We know he will do great things as he heads to Princeton this fall.

Andre was previously recognized as a Do The Right Thing recipient for his outstanding leadership, service, and character. From organizing Fellowship of Christian Athletes events and leading Bible studies for fellow athletes, to volunteering at Night to Shine and helping behind the scenes with football team responsibilities, Andre consistently puts others first.

The Marc Newberry Memorial Scholarship was created to celebrate the life and achievements of a young man who tragically lost his life in a boating accident on April 28, 2017. Marc received the City of Naples “Do The Right Thing” award on October 1, 2014, after courageously rescuing occupants trapped in vehicles during a flood.
