REACTIVATION OF NPD CANINE PROGRAM

February 23rd, 2024 9:22 am

Thanks to Golden Paws Assistance Dogs and Apex K9 USA, our department grew by two this week! We are thrilled to announce that City Council approved our request to reactivate the department's canine unit by accepting an amazingly generous monetary donation from The Gabriella Agatha Hamori Trust and two donated canines: a golden retriever named Max from Golden Paws Assistance Dogs and a black lab named Tessa from Apex K9 USA. Max, handled by Master Officer Jeffrey Perry, is trained to work in crisis care, comforting victims and witnesses of crimes and helping to calm individuals in crisis. Tessa, handled by Master Officer Ty Fortune, is trained in explosives and firearms detection. We are so excited to be able to expand our services and continue to grow our partnerships in the community and we cannot thank our donors enough.
