On September 29, 2026, Naples Police Department officers responded to the 400 Block of 11th St. N Jade Apartments in reference to a male illegally occupying a vacant apartment unit currently under renovation. As officers arrived, they observed a black male, later identified Latauin Harris, attempting to exit the rear window of the unit. Officers briefly spoke to Harris who quickly closed the window and exited out the front door of the unit. Upon seeing a uniformed patrol officer approaching who commanded him to stop, Harris fled toward the front of the apartment complex.

After initially losing sight of Harris, officers set up a perimeter around the 300 block of 10th St. N and immediately found the suspect attempting to conceal himself in the garden of the River Park Recreation Center. While being handcuffed, Harris continued to resist officers’ efforts as they took him into custody. He was arrested for Trespass After Warning and Resisting Arrest. At the time of his arrest, Harris was already out on bond for a July 28, 2026, Aggravated Assault arrest by the Naples Police Department after he threatened a citizen with a knife inside a business. He is currently being held at the Naples Jail Center with a revoked bond status.
