On May 5th, 2022, at approximately 2230hrs, the Oakes Police Department was dispatched to a hit and run accident on the south side of town. An investigation ensued and a vehicle matching the description given to officers was located abandoned in a ditch a few miles south of Oakes.

After further investigation officers were able to determine who had driven the vehicle and discovered that the individual had a full extradition warrant from the US Marshals office. Officers made contact with the individual and the subject was apprehended without incident.

The subject is being held at the Stutsman County Jail and facing local charges of reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to give immediate notice of accident. The case will be reviewed for any additional charges.
